Areas of Development

As toddlers strive for independence, our educators create a program that supports each child’s individuality.   Our educators foster a sense of autonomy in each child by ensuring opportunities that offer flexibility and choice.  Our educators recognize that our toddler curriculum must include nurturing care and kindness as well as stimulating education and increased physical activity.

Our curriculum centers on understanding and building connections and relationships.  Positive skills are built into the daily activities and are encouraged.  They see the adult educators respecting and responding to their individual cues and interests with experiences that enhance and balance with their home life.

Within small groups, our toddlers learn about connections and relationships with fewer distractions.  The activities are more focused now.  Our toddlers are making connections with their Park Place friends and learn to understand and respect the differences of other children.

Early Years

Toddler Program Outcome

With the core philosophy that each child is unique and needs to be nurtured as such, Park Place provides an inclusive program that respects individual abilities, needs and strengths.

The language-rich environment encourages communication through positive interactions.  The classrooms and play areas provide our children with a rich, interesting environment that they can explore with all their senses.

Children’s feelings of competence are encouraged by giving them opportunities to experiment and problem solve, which builds their self-confidence.  Concurrently, children’s self-esteem is developed by ensuring that they feel valued and cared for as distinct individuals.

The key learning outcomes for our toddlers are language development, socialization, self-help skills, fine motor development and hand-eye coordination.  Language development is promoted throughout the day through the use of labels or through repetition of their emerging vocabulary.  This all contributes to our toddlers becoming confident learners.

Your Toddler's Day

Toddlers are always on the move! They are busy actively discovering their world. Toddlers learn best in safe, loving places where they can explore in their own way. They will begin having a more structured day and follow a schedule. The activities for this age group are built around toddlers' limitless curiosity and their natural desire to push boundaries.

During their time at Park Place, your toddler will learn to count, discover writing and music, and start building toward following simple instructions, growing their vocabulary to express their feelings and wishes through words, and... the potty-training begins.

Educators and parents collaborate closely for a smooth learning and development process between home and Park Place Daycare.
